Professional education | March of Dimes

The March of Dimes offers a range of educational opportunities for health professionals.

Some these opportunities include continuing education credits. We offer website resources, nursing modules, genetics education resources and more.

Nursing education

For more than 30 years, the March of Dimes has offered continuing education to perinatal nurses. Developed by top experts in the field, our print and online materials can be used for individual or group study. We also support future nursing leaders by awarding scholarships to students who are pursuing graduate degrees in perinatal nursing.

prematurityprevention.org

Prematurityprevention.org is the most comprehensive source of information for professionals on premature birth and prematurity prevention. Resources include Prematurity Campaign updates, toolkits, reports, emerging medical research, advocacy resources and information on professional opportunities, like upcoming webinars and conferences. Users also can join a Network members directory and connect with other professionals on the site.

Genetics education

March of Dimes and its partners have developed a free point of care tool for primary prenatal providers, called the Pregnancy & Health Profile, to help integrate genetics into your practice.  The computer-based tool collects standard information as part of prenatal care intake and helps identify and address potential pregnancy conditions and family history risks to help keep a woman and her baby healthy.

Our Preconception and Prenatal Genetic Screening Pocket Facts describes widely used screening methods and data for certain birth defects. Our Newborn Screening pocket facts focuses on the 28 metabolic conditions plus hearing that are currently screened for as part of the standard panel. Since the guide was first printed, the panel now includes screenings for congenital heart defects and severe combined immunodeficiency syndrome.
