About Us - Harvard Health

Harvard Health Publications is the media and publishing division of the Harvard Medical School of Harvard University, under the direction of Dr. Gregory Curfman, Editor in Chief. The goal of our publications is to bring people around the world the most current health information that is authoritative, trustworthy, and accessible. To do this, we draw on the expertise of Harvard Medical School's 11,000+ physicians, researchers, and other faculty members.

Working with partners in the media and publishing industry, Harvard Health Publications creates information about health and wellness through all types of media: newsletters, reports, books, mobile apps, video, web-based interactive tools and our websites (www.health.harvard.edu and www.HarvardProstateKnowledge.org). In addition, Harvard Health Publications content is made available to the public through Ask Doctor K, a syndicated daily newspaper column, as well through licensing arrangements with a wide range of public and corporate websites.

Harvard Medical School was founded in 1782 and encompasses 17 affiliated hospitals with more than 11,000 faculty members. Read more about the history of Harvard Medical School.

Harvard Health Books & eBooks

As medical care has grown more complex, the amount of health information available to the public has increased greatly. At the same time, the face-to-face time people have with their doctors is increasingly limited. This often leaves individuals facing many confusing choices.

The Harvard Medical School physicians who write and edit our books are practicing doctors who understand the questions and concerns of patients. Not only do we care for patients — whether they are suffering from a nasty cold or require emergency surgery — but we also teach them how to stay healthy. As a result, our books offer the latest information, presented in an innovative and clear manner.

Harvard Medical School publishes books for the general public on a wide range of health topics, available in bookstores and though online book sellers.
